Every displayed number carries a superscript to the numbered source below. Where our fact-check corrected a figure, the corrected value is shown (for example cattle slaughter is given as 291 million, not 309.9 million; the FY2026 Beef Checkoff programme funding as roughly $38 million). Ranges are shown honestly: farmed fish are counted only by tonnage, so the individual count is a wide estimate (central roughly 77 billion, range 29 to 149 billion). Percentages come from different denominators (live birds versus inspected weight versus food mass), noted on each card.
